France may not have the same reputation for golf as Spain and Portugal, but the Cote d'Azur is home to some magnificent courses and Mougins sits at the heart of it all. Within 5Km of the villa are three excellent courses, two of which compete with anything the Iberian neighbours can offer. Royal Mougins is one of the most prestigious clubs in the world, whilst Cannes Mougins has hosted European Tour events on 14 occasions.

The closest course to the villa (5 minutes' drive) and one of the best around, Cannes Mougins has hosted European Tour events 14 times with winners including Seve Ballesteros and Ian Woosnam. Green fees are €100-€120 per round and it is worth every cent!

Just the other side of the village from the villa is Royal Mougins, which is a very exclusive golf club with a course to match. The green fees here are €150-€175 per round, but be sure to book well in advance as the club only allows a limited number of non-members per day and these slots do get booked up in advance.

Only a ten minute drive from the villa, on the road between Mouans Sartoux and Grasse. The green fees are only €79 which is fantastic value for money. The course is not long, but intricate and testing; it always seems to be in great condition. Well worth a visit.

Under an hour`s drive away is the famous Four Seasons golf resort of Terre Blanche, which has two championship standard courses, le Riou is the shorter, but tighter; le Chateau is over 7,000 yards and is a true test for any standard of player. The resort also has a hotel, numerous restaurants and a spa. Green fees are €175.

About an hour's drive through Grasse and beyond into the mountains on a spectacular road, you'll find Chateau de Taulane ...and what a find! A stunning Gary Player designed course. Green fees are €100 per round, so it is well worth the drive.

Monte Carlo golf club is set high above the principality of Monaco with the most breathtaking views of the area. There are holes where all you can see beyond the green is the Med! The course hosted several European Tour events in the 80’s and 90’s. It is just 40 minutes’ drive down the A8, but leave plenty of time as it’s not that easy to find.
